Looking Glass Design & Build Studio artists carefully hand painting on stained and translucent glass. Using the glass as the canvas, paint can be applied to the front and back then permanently fused to the glass by being kiln fired. What is achieved is a dimensional outcome. Each layer of paint brings the entire piece to life by adding design elements and details that will ensure a beautiful outcome.
At Looking Glass Design & Build Studio, we hand bevel glass in a traditional manner by manually
grinding and polishing each piece of glass. Beveled glass is made by taking thick glass and creating an angled surface cut bevel around the entire outer rim. The bevel is obtained by holding the glass against a vertical roughing wheel, with water playing an important part of the operation. The bevel goes through 4 wheels, being a diamond, natural stone, aluminum oxide, then polished to clarity on a felt wheel dresses with pumice.
